Coat Rack for Katie

Sorry about the picture quality -- was using an old Olympus 2 megapixel, and the quality is terrible.

Current Stage -- Primed and ready to be painted

I started out with a simple pine board, about 12" wide by 8" high.  Size was determined by where the coat rack was going to end up.  It turns out that I should have used the sign crafter first and then cut to length second -- it was hard to clamp on the sign crafter.

Here's where I get to use my sign crafter.  1st time I've used it, though I've had it for a few years now.  It seems to work OK.  However, I had to dig out my old Searz router -- it was the only router I had that would accept the template guides.

Another product from Milescraft -- spiral crafter.  Also the first time I've used this.  Also seems to work OK.  Also seemed to be designed with the Searz router in mind.

Here's a picture of the "after" design.

  All the jigs removed.

I had an old piece of lumber left over from the shop remodel that I used for the pegs.

Peg cut to length in prep for the lathe.  Sorry, no lathe pictures....

Finished pegs, inserted into the rack.

Back of the board where I cut the keyhole slots so I can attached it to the wall.  Yep, you can see where I screwed up with the sign crafter.

Close up of the keyhole slots.

  Primed and ready for paint.
